A Great Urban Park for All

Over the past five years, the Parkway Council has led a collaborative planning effort—bringing together Parkway stakeholders, city government, and community partners, with support from the William Penn Foundation—to transform the Benjamin Franklin Parkway into a unified great urban park for Philadelphia. The Parkway Council envisions a Benjamin Franklin Parkway where all Philadelphians can connect with nature, culture, and each other every day of the year.

 

The planning process has been informed by feedback from over 10,000 Philadelphians and over 90 stakeholder meetings. In 2025, the City of Philadelphia received a $23.3 million Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation that will help support initial phase transportation and infrastructure safety improvements. 

 

The Parkway Council and its city partners look forward to releasing the final plan in the coming months.
